Thank you from our CEO It’s been a tough time for charities over the past few years. Austerity measures have reduced funding available and many charities have been surviving by using their reserves, or their ‘savings’. Charity fundraising has been under immense scrutiny and all of this has happened as the charity sector has seen demand for their services increase. Daisy Chain has managed to overcome all of these challenges due to the phenomenal support we receive from local people and businesses, the partnerships with local authorities, NHS and other charities and the ethical way that we operate. I was recently asked how the Fundraising Preference Service would affect Daisy Chain and the simple answer is it won’t. The Fundraising Preference Service enables people to opt out of receiving communications from charities and the fact is Daisy Chain would never contact someone who didn’t want to be contacted. We are a truly independent, local charity and never buy or sell lists of supporters names and contact details, never employ ‘chuggers’ or fundraise on people’s doorsteps and all of the money donated to Daisy Chain goes directly to helping local families affected by autism. You only have to visit our farm in Norton to see how supporter’s money makes a difference to the lives of local families. Whether it’s the 45 runners enduring this year’s Great North Run to raise funds for our work, our charity superstore and the events held there such as the recent ‘upcycying’ workshop, other in-house activities such as our Summer Draw which raised a record £2,000 this year or the support of charitable foundations and trusts such as the People’s Postcode Lottery you have my promise that our fundraising activities will always be open, honest and ethical. So, a big thank you to all of our supporters, every single penny raised for Daisy Chain makes a massive difference to our ability to help local families and without your support we wouldn’t be able to do the amazing work that we do.
